Credit card payoff calculator
Your balance, your rate, your payment: how many months the debt will last and what the interest quietly adds up to along the way.
Your estimate
Estimates only, not an offer or financial advice. Assumes no new spending on the card and a fixed payment every month.
How to read the results
The time figure is the one that surprises people. A $4,000 balance at a 22.9% APR with a $150 payment takes about three years to clear, and roughly $1,500 of what you pay is interest. Drop the payment toward the card's minimum and both numbers balloon; the minimum is designed to keep the balance alive, not to end it.
The fix is unglamorous and effective: raise the fixed payment and stop adding new spending to the card. Try it in the calculator, twenty dollars at a time, and watch months fall off the answer. If the payment does not even cover the monthly interest, the calculator will tell you plainly that the balance never clears at that pace, which is worth knowing today rather than in a year.
If several cards are running at once, one fixed-rate loan can replace them with a single payment and an actual end date; the debt consolidation page shows how to check whether that trade saves you money, and the loan payment calculator prices the loan side of it. The other calculators are in the Tools menu above.
